Infertility Treatment (non-IVF)
Infertility and Conception
Infertility investigations are often the beginning of an emotional journey for couples. There is a happy ending in most cases, but the length of the journey can be unpredictable.
There are 3 factors required for normal conception – SPERMS, EGGS and TRANSPORT. Investigation of these 3 factors and correction of any anomalies is our approach to infertility management.
We provide NON-IVF treatment that concentrates on restoration of your pelvis (tubes, ovaries, uterus) to normal function by Laparoscopic and Hysteroscopic surgery. Restoration of pelvic integrity by laparoscopy and hysteroscopy following failed IVF can often result in a spontaneous conception.
The natural rate of conception for each couple is 20-25% per cycle, with some couples conceiving naturally within 6 months of trying.
There is an established pathway of investigations and treatment, with success along the way for most couples with each treatment option.
The choice of the most complex treatment option may not necessarily mean success, and a gradual progression towards more complex options is our approach. Each treatment option is monitored for 4 cycles before moving on to the next option.

Ovulation Induction and Tracking
An initial cycle assessment with hormone investigations and ultrasound examinations at various times of the menstrual cycle is performed.
Tests on days 2, 14 and 21 are performed during a typical 28 day cycle assessment. Women with longer cycles will have tests performed on different days.
With a predictable ovulation day and a normal sperm analysis, timed intercourse often results in a successful pregnancy within months.
Inspection of the cervical mucous on ovulation day will reveal mucous quality.
A post coital cervical mucous test with visualisation of motile sperms confirms adequate sperm function.
These couples can anticipate successful outcomes early on, provided there are no transport anomalies.
Patients with ovulation problems may require ovulation stimulation with various medications including Clomiphene citrate, Letrozole, FSH injections and HCG support.
