Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
Hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus. Laparoscopic hysterectomy uses 'key-hole surgery' to perform the procedure.
The procedure involves the passage of a narrow telescope through the umbilicus, with 2 or more 5mm instruments on other parts of the abdominal wall. These instruments allow the surgeon to palpate, mobilise and correct the organs.
Hysterectomy is an option to deal with fibroids, abnormal bleeding, and risk of subsequent cancer.
